Marquis de Lafayette Essay - 1217 Words
Marquis de Lafayette The Marquis de Lafayette is best remembered for the part he played in the American War of Independence. He contributed in helping the Americans gain free control over the colonies by breaking away from British home rule. For sixty years he fought with consistency and insight for political ideals and social reforms that have dominated the history of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Hence, Lafayette can be attributed to the spreading of liberty and freedom throughout America and France. Therefore, he is viewed as a symbol of liberalism in a once absolutist world. Born on September 6, 1757, Gilbert Montier de Lafayette lived in the Chateau de Chavaniac. This beautiful palace isâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦First, he wanted to distinguish himself as a soldier. Second, he detested England and the English. As victors in the Seven Yearââ¬â¢s War, the English humiliated France and took away the French territory in Canada. Being a very proud Fren chman, ââ¬Å"He wanted to see England get a beating; he wanted her to lose her American colonies and he had come to help the Americans win, gain their independence, and lower the pride of the insolent English nationâ⬠(Woodward 4). Thus, he sailed in his new boat Victoire onto the shore of South Carolina, along with fourteen other French army members, with plans in becoming a volunteer officer for the American revolutionary army. The marquis pursued his ambitions and left his home in secrecy even after his father-in-law, the Duc de Noailles, forbid him to leave France. Lafayetteââ¬â¢s strong will and excitement to be in charge of an army was too much to hold back. He left his young, pregnant wife with nothing but a letter saying good-bye. Unfortunately, it would be years before he would make his way back to his homeland again. Ten days after their arrival into Charleston, Lafayette and the others made their way to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was the 27th of July and Congress was still in session. At first, they were rejected and told to go back to France because there were already plenty of French officers employed in the army. Intellectual Property properly safeguards those who apply for patent registration. It is especially important in the industrial field, such as that where BUG Inc operates, because it protects the research and development investments of the company. There are many legal protections that BUG Inc can apply for to accomplish this. We will write a custom essay sample on Bug Inc Paper or any similar topic only for you Order Now The protections on Intellectual Property can fall under the ambit of Copyright, Trademark and Patents. Trademark is a very visible and wide issue because of the fact that it is seen in everyday things. Given the globalization of the world economy, it is now currently the most violated aspect of Intellectual Property Law at present. Under this legal protection, the owner of the trademark has a right to prevent any person from committing trademark infringement or any act that is not in good faith with regard to the use of the company logo. Trademark covers a very wide scope since it can be used for nearly any creation or icon that is protected by the trademark license. It covers all signs and insignias that are directly connected to or related to the company that registered the trademark. As such, any company or firm cannot use such trademark without prior consent of the company which owns the trademark. In relation to the logo of BUG Inc, the corporation may file for trademark protection. Under this legal protection, the owner of the trademark has a right to prevent any person from committing trademark infringement or any act that is not in good faith with regard to the use of the company logo. Another legal protection that Bug Inc can apply for is a patent which is designed to protect the electronic recording devices that the company makes. The first subject matter to be discussed is that of Patent. There are basically three (3) types of patents that an individual can apply for. The first type is called the Utility Patent. This type of patent is given to any person who is able to invent or discover any novel and useful process, machine, and manufactured article or matter composition. It also includes any new and useful improvement of such. The second type of patent is the design patent. This patent is given to anyone who is able to create an original and novel ornamental design for any manufactured article. The third type of patent is the plant patent, which is given to anyone who invents or discovers any distinct new variety of plant. In this case, as long as the invention involves a new inventive step that has an industrial application it may be registered and issued a patent that gives the owner the exclusive right to utilize the object. 2. ) Given the facts of the case, it must be stated that there is a clear conflict under international laws in case Steve is found guilty. Under the principle of international laws, the imposition of criminal charges is not territorial except if such is a crime against humanity or has been recognized by international tribunals as among the list of crimes that are crimes regardless of location. For the case at hand, if Canada or Steveââ¬â¢s mother country does not recognize his act as a crime the United States will have a hard time prosecuting and charging him because he is of a different citizenship. The civil liabilities involved in industrial or corporate espionage depend on the laws of the particular state. One law, however, that is applicable in all states would be the civil liability that is derived from the United States Constitution. It has been recognized by a number of Supreme Court decisions that the right to privacy can be invoked by a corporation to a certain extent. This means that the act of Steve in transmitting the communications between the officers and employees is a violation of this right and he is thus civilly liable for damages. Steve may also be found in violation of the pertinent copyright and patent laws depending on the content of the information sent. If the correspondence contained sensitive insider information with regard to any invention, then Steve would be in violation of the patent law. If on the other hand, there was no sensitive information, the act of hacking into the computer system is also an act that is criminally punishable. In addition to the criminal liability, there is a corresponding civil liability for damages as well. WIRETAP can only be held liable if it is sufficiently shown that it had a hand in the actions of Steve; a corporation having a juridical personality distinct from that of its employees, it can be held liable along with Steve if it is shown that it was involved in the aforementioned acts. Santol Peelings as Potential Source for Ethanol free essay sample
Abstract Todayââ¬â¢s world poses an era where technology is both comfort and need. In the enjoyment of these benefits, energy has been harnessed mostly from non-renewable energy resources. While energy is surging in demand, by-products included pollution and other harmful effects. People need to shift their views to the alternative energy resources such as ethanol, alcohol extracted from fruits. Food consumption should never be sacrificed, therefore, using fruit wastes is wiser. Santol is locally abundant fruit with popularly eaten pulps and normally thrown peelings. The study focuses on extracting ethanol from Santol peelings, using white and brown sugar, and comparing it to the commercial in flame propagation, duration, temperature difference, and heat content with varying concentrations. The study is an experiment divided into three phases, fermentation, distillation, and the flame testing. Gathered data has been tabulated and treated with Z test and Randomized Block Design. With the findings, Santol peelings can be a potential source of ethanol. We will write a custom essay sample on Santol Peelings as Potential Source for Ethanol or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Keywords alternatives, concentrations, fermentation, distillation, duration, heat content, propagation I. INTRODUCTION Energy is the prime requirement for us to enjoy the benefits of technology. Through the years, its demand has been surging while its supply experiences shakes. Energy sources spring from coal, natural gas, oils, and many other nonrenewable energy resources. The depletion of these sources is inevitable as their recovery rate is much slower than the consumption rate of the people. Apart from the depleting issue, nonrenewable energy resources have been giving pollutants and risks, responsible for the manmade calamities and tragedies worldwide. There is a need to divert our views towards energy sources that do not sacrifice the quality of living that we long while promoting a much sustainable environment where all organisms thrive and prosper. Ethanol, a renewable energy resource, is combined with gasoline (gasohol) and used as automotive fuel. Though, ethanol is chiefly produced from raw materials fitter for human consumption. Ethanol is extracted from fruits, might as well, the fruit wastes such as peelings can generate ethanol. Santol (Sandoricum koetjape) is among the locally abundant fruit in the country. Its pulp is popularly eaten while its peelings are naturally thrown away. Thus the project is called to explore the potential of ethanol from Santol peelings and comparing its ethanol to that of the commercial one. II. METHODOLOGY Extraction of the Santol ethanol had undergone three phases. First was the fermentation phase, then the distillation phase, and lastly, the testing phase. During the fermentation process, the santol peelings were chopped into fine pieces. For every two cups of the chopped peelings, one cup of distilled water was added. To produce the mash, the chopped peelings, together with the distilled water were blended. We used the cheese cloth in order to filter the juice from the mash. For every four cups of juice, we added one cup of sugar. Since we had two set-ups, the first set-up was added with brown sugar while the other one was added with white sugar. The mixture was stirred in order to completely dissolve the sugar. The mixture was then pasteurized at 60à °C in 30 minutes in order to eliminate bacteria that might alter the process. After pasteurizing the mixture, it was cooled to room temperature. When the temperature reached its steady state, we added the bakerââ¬â¢s yeast. For every 1. 125liters of the pasteurized mixture, only 1/8 teaspoon of the bakerââ¬â¢s yeast must be added. The mixture was then placed in a sealed fermenting jar and kept in a dark place at room temperature in two weeks to complete the fermentation. The distillation process cannot be done if the mixture is not completely fermented. Necessary equipment is also needed in order to start distilling the fermented mixture. During this process, 100ml of the fermented mixture was poured into the distilling flask and was heated up to 78. 5à °C in order to evaporate and condense the ethanol. Testing was done using the extracted ethanol from the distillation procedure and also with the commercial one. The tests conducted were for the flame propagation, flame duration, temperature differences and heat content. In testing for the flame propagation, we used a 20-inch cotton strip. The cotton strip was fully dipped into the Erlenmeyer flask with the 3:2 ratio or 3ml of the santol ethanol and 2ml of unleaded gasoline mixture. The cotton absorbed all the liquid mixture. The wet cotton strip was then held on a flat surface and ignited from the tip using a match. The conduct of the flame duration and temperature differences was also done during the procedure. The procedure for the heat content was done after gathering the necessary data for the temperature differences III. The set-up with brown sugar has ethanol yield of 0. 1089 mL per gram of the Santol peelings. The weight of the Santol peelings needed to obtain a one mL ethanol is 9. 1836 grams. The set-up with the white sugar has ethanol yield of 0. 1 mL for every one gram of Santol peelings. Ten grams of Santol peelings is needed to obtain a one mL of ethanol. The set-up with the brown sugar with 1125 mL of Santol juice has produced 50 mL of ethanol. To produce an mL of ethanol using brown sugar, 22. 5 mL of Santol juice is needed. The set-up with the white sugar has 750 mL of Santol juice and has produced 49 mL of ethanol. To produce an mL of ethanol using white sugar, 15. 30612 mL of Santol juice must be prepared. To produce 1 mL of ethanol from the Santol peelings, the total cost will amount to 0. 6638 pesos. V. CONCLUSION Santol peelings have the potential to be a source of ethanol. Considering the minimal acquisition cost of the experimental ethanol and the comparative performance it has showed for the flame duration, flame propagation, temperature difference, and the heat content in relation to the commercially available one, a latent source of ethanol can be the discarded peelings from this fruit and may serve as alternative for the traditional sources of ethanol, which currently spring from food sources such as corn, bananas, and others. The concentration of the experimental ethanol does not affect the performance in flame duration, temperature difference, and heat content while effects in the flame propagation is observed. Then, the concentrations do not generally affect on the performance. For economical reasons, one can use the greater concentration of Santol ethanol to save resources without sacrificing the quality of the fuel. Concurrently, this study will significantly help in the research of finding better alternatives and greener choices towards a more sustainable environment. School Prayer Essays - Spirituality, Spiritual Practice, Religion
School Prayer School Prayer By Danielle Clark Block 1 Speech 105 I. Intro- Contrary to the claims, students have the Constitutional right to pray in school, either individually or in informal groups so long as the prayer is not organized by the school. But if the students only knew what they were really doing by praying in school. II. First of all they are going against the Bible. As to quote, Matthew 6:5-6: And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray... So as you can see those who pray in places such as the cafeteria, middle of the hall or things of that nature is actually going against the bible. Now I am not saying that a person should not pray in schools, but they should do it just as the Bible says in a personal place. If a student can't find a personal place, and have an undesirable need to pray, they need to not make a big deal out of it. Praying as put in the Bible is a personal experience between that person and God. Not an event to be proclaimed up and down the hallway. III. Another problem there is with praying in schools is the fact that there are some students who don't believe in God. The purpose of a democracy is to have the majority decide but yet always respect the rights of the minority. Some administrators, teachers, parents, and most importantly, kids, just feel uncomfortable when it comes to religion. Several factors could be attributed to this problem, from too many religions and religious theories to religious pressure to lack thereof. But whatever the reason some people feel offended by seeing these students pray. They think that their rights are being infringed upon. Well in example, if a shirt some student is wearing offends a person they tell someone about being offended. Someone else is also offended and so they tell someone. These 2 people influenced by what they have heard tell more people. This chain reaction continues until that kind of shirt is not allowed in schools, in example Marilynn Manson shirts. The minority there is the students wanting to wear the shirts; the majority is the people offended by it. The majority spoke and the minority is told to fallow. But now it is the minority being offended no one cares to do anything about it. IV. The last problem I have are the advocates of school prayer say that without it there is moral decline, blaming the absence of school prayer for everything from low SAT scores to teenage pregnancy. But it just won't work. In fact, legislated school prayer would make things worse. For a school to require students to recite, for example, a Christian prayer would give Christianity a special status, implying that other religions are somehow inferior. One religion would be pitted against another, conflicts would arise, and intolerance would grow. The only palatable compromise in a directed public school prayer would be a watered-down prayer that would be meaningless to the deeply religious and an infringement on those who follow no religion. Some of our senators are trying to pass an amendment in have school prayer required. But the First Amendment begins Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof... If we were to have this school wide required prayer we would be in essance establishing a religion. And even though what they are trying to pass is a constitutional amendment it goes against on of the main things our forefathers came here for. The First Amendment is one of the finest laws man has ever written. For over two hundred years, it continues to mean exactly what it was originally intended to mean: Religion and other fundamental rights should remain beyond the reach of majorities and governments, and certainly not subjected to the political whims of Congress. Why Planning Less Will Boost Productivity
Why Planning Less Will Boost Productivity It might beà a tricky thing to do in our world of overloaded, double-stuffed, triple-stacked offerings, but according to David Caolo at Unclutterer.com, the best way to give yourself some breathing room and actually boost your productivity is to plan to get less done. Thatââ¬â¢s right- under-schedule, and youââ¬â¢ll likely over-deliver. Having recently found myself in a 3 month stretch of hyper-scheduled workload-excess, I can relate. If I plan to get two things done a day, I can accomplish them and add on a bonus ask. If I have to get through 4 things before I can go to bed, anything that distracts me or comes up more urgently may derail my whole day.Start by planning the night before- ask yourself, ââ¬Å"What should I work on first?â⬠as you get ready for bed, so by the time youââ¬â¢re back at your desk, youââ¬â¢re ready to go.Even better, Caolo suggests not scheduling anything for the last hour of your day. This leaves you free to handle things that come up, it lets you tie up projects that are taking too much time, and allows you to sort through email and last-minute requests for the next day. I love to send a recap email or handle all my administrative tasks at the end of the day. Itââ¬â¢s soothing- and frees up my first hour for urgent things instead of the slow, sometimes tedious wind up.See what happens if you pull the plug on the auto-scheduler and under-do it for a change- you may be surprised how much you can get done!Build a Time Buffer Into Your Schedule

Michelle Obama should be in 2010 Time Magezine Essay
Michelle Obama should be in 2010 Time Magezine - Essay Example A lot of the criticism of Michelle comes from people who seek to demonize her husband. It is all politics. They see Michelle as a kind of radical who supported black nationalism in her youth. These caricatures are offensive and do a disservice to American political discourse. Nevertheless, they form part of the background noise that follows Michelle and the Obama administration. There are still those who would use racial issues to divide us, no matter how much Michelle and her husband have risen above these problems and inspired the country. Michelle has a number of fantastic initiatives to which she dedicates a great deal of time. In recognition of her selfless work on behalf of these cause she should be one of Time Magazine's Most Influential People. One of her biggest accomplishments has been to support military families. America is currently engaged in two wars. One in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. Both of these conflicts take a huge toll on America's fighting men and women. Famil y members are away for months at a time on active duty, away from their spouses and children. They are always in harms way; family members are always waiting beside the phone for the dreaded call. Their families need support. This is one of the best things that Michelle does. She promotes and helps military families and helps to ensure that they get the respect that they so richly deserve.

Imperialism, Race and Development Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Imperialism, Race and Development - Essay Example It is precisely for such reasons that a quick recognition of the positive qualities, the psychological fundamentals, among the poor themselves is mandatory for poverty alleviation in particular. Most of the dependency theory writers hold the opinion that the "same process that brought development to the homelands of capitalism and to North America and Australasia simultaneously brought underdevelopment to the rest of the colonized world, trapping previously autonomous societies in poverty that was self-perpetuating because any significant profits made in them was extracted by Western firms or rulers". (Frank, 1978) "Underdevelopment evolve an important feature of dependency theory with the proposition that the end of colonialism was apparent rather than real, "decolonisation" being really a transition to "neocolonialism," in which foreign capital continued to exploit the local population but with protection from a local client-state rather than from European officials. This analysis was built upon in left-wing critiques of U.S. government policy as well as of transnational corporations, which covers around 1500-1840, and elsewhere elaborated from the classic "dependency" argument in his own "world system" framework. This, however, envisaged some scope for upward economic mobility for underdeveloped countries and provided some recognition of a reality that was then becoming increasingly clear: that industrialisation was underway in formerly "underdeveloped" countries of East Asia in the 1960s to 1980s, while there had also been long-term growth of manufacturing in certain other parts of the thi rd world, most notably Brazil". (2006b) In other words, the problem was not only about poverty and underdevelopment, but also as some Caribbean economists admitted, it was all about governance and the instigated psychology of dependence. Ramesh writes, "as these researchers noted, Lewis' 'strategies for industrialisation' went beyond pure economic factors and in fact required that the population develop 'drive and appropriate attitudes'. But such 'drives', social motivations and attitudes can only find sustaining viability in an accommodating, enhancing environment. If not, even when they appear they did not blossom. The recent history of the social and political life of the Caribbean has been one of grand promises and broken expectations, of broken spirits always fighting to heal and console themselves over and over again. And the psychological consequences have been quite debilitating". (Ramesh, 2000, p. 4) When it comes to social and political life, it is true that "Power and poverty are two of the most dominant issues in social science. They seem to occupy opposite ends in the continuum of human life. In fact, power, especially the lack of it, is inextricably linked to the condition and experience of poverty. Hence, it is useful to have both a macro view of development and as well a micro view of the poverty experience. The struggle of poor people to gain

Final Exam Critical Thinking Essay Example for Free
Final Exam Critical Thinking Essay Our newest product Wet Wonders lip gloss, has not been performing very well. Creative Cosmetics needs to come up with different ways to market our lip gloss in order to boost sales. The projected sales for Wet Wonders lip gloss have slumped and we are in danger of having to scrap this product and its promotional campaign. During product development, our initial testing proved that Wet Wonders can be successful based off the positive feedback we received. In order to boost sales, Creative Cosmetics needs to analyze the role of advertising in society, why itââ¬â¢s so important and how to effectively use it. Without advertising consumers would not be told what to buy. Advertising is the reason our homes are filled with so many items, why we drive the cars we do and why we wear the clothes we wear. There have been many studies on the increase of advertisements over the years. In 1915, a person could go entire weeks without observing an ad. The average adult today sees some three thousand every day (Twitchell 203). Advertising also fuels the need to shop which in turn stimulates the economy. Economist can track consumer spending every quarter allowing them to gauge how well the economy is doing. Due to budget constraints, Creative Cosmetics chose to only sell Wet Wonders through ads on the radio. Using only radio ads to market our product, has not proven to be very effective. While radio allows you to tell a story and take the listenerââ¬â¢s mind on a journey, it is not the most effective means of marketing a lip gloss. The radio paints a broad stroke, meaning it is heard by many different people. There are specific times when we could have our ads running that could pinpoint a certain group of people, although itââ¬â¢s not necessarily guaranteed. Another downside to radio ads is they donââ¬â¢t have the ability to allow the consumer to see what they are missing. Itââ¬â¢s not enough to say we have a wonderful product. We want to make the consumer feel that their lives would be so much better with our lip gloss and if they donââ¬â¢t buy it then they are missing out on something great. In other words, we have to convince them that they need our lip gloss in order to make their lives as exciting as the woman wearing it. Television could do that most effectively. Television commercials would give us the visual component we need. Our ads could really drive home the message that Wet Wonders lip gloss can change your whole look in instant. We want women to feel as though they can go from drab to fab with just one swipe of our lip gloss. Television would give us the ability to make women as though they would feel, sexy, confident and desirable when they wear our lip gloss. We could run our commercials during peak times that women are watching television such as the morning and afternoons. While there are a lot of women working outside the home, there are still a good number of women that stay at home to raise families. An ideal time to run our commercials would be during talk and game shows as well as soap operas. Another idea would be to use a famous person or celebrity in our advertising. People like to feel as though they trust the person they are buying something from and even though they may not personally know the celebrity they trust them. Since we know our product would be best suited being marketed on a visual platform, we should also consider magazine ads. Magazines would be a perfect way to market our Wet Wonders lip gloss. With magazine ads we could saturate the market with our product and message. There are teen magazines, young adult beauty magazines, and magazines for the more mature woman. Every one of these genres have women that are sexy, confident, and desirable. This is exactly the woman we want to market to. Magazines have the ability to make consumers visualize themselves as that sexy, vibrant woman that wears Wet Wonders lip gloss just by looking at a picture.

Fake IDs :: essays research papers
Fake ID Just like many college students, Dana and her friends decided to go to a bar one Saturday night. The problem: Not everyone in their group was old enough to enter. The solution: Use fake ID obtained through a friend. So Dana and her friends used fake IDs to enter the bar without a problem, or so they thought. Later that night, police raided the bar. Dana's ID was confiscated and she was later arrested. It seems like everyone wants to be a different age. Many teenagers want to be either 18 or 21 so they can buy cigarettes or alcohol. And Iââ¬â¢m sure everyone has heard their parents say they wish they were 18 again. For the most part people canââ¬â¢t change how old they are, but by using fake identification, someone could pretend to be an age older than what they are. More and more people are using fake IDââ¬â¢s. There have been many new advances in technology in recent years. Because of these advances, such as computers and internet, fake IDââ¬â¢s are becoming easier to get, and their quality is improving. Not too long after states find ways of making IDââ¬â¢s harder to duplicate, the counterfeiters are finding a way to make them. Fake IDââ¬â¢s no longer consist of scratching an 8 into a 3. These advances make it hard to tell apart fake IDââ¬â¢s from the real thing. Some websites sell fake IDââ¬â¢s from $50-5,000. Selling fake IDââ¬â¢s over the internet has increased greatly over the past few years. à à à à à The internet makes fake IDââ¬â¢s readily available, but according to the article ââ¬Å"Forged in Plasticâ⬠in Missoula, most underage clients buy phony driverââ¬â¢s licenses from local manufacturers who use computers, scanners, laser printers, laminators, and special programs. à à à à à According to the San Diego Union Tribune An estimated 10 million fake IDââ¬â¢s are confiscated each year. During spring break last year in Florida, 10,000 fake IDââ¬â¢s were confiscated by using a handheld ID verification device made by Logix Company of Colorado. à à à à à There are different types of people who use fake IDââ¬â¢s for different reasons. Many people who use fake IDââ¬â¢s are just teenagers who want to buy alcohol. 18, 19, and 20 year olds generally use fake IDââ¬â¢s to drink in bars, while high school students with fakes just go to grocery stores to find beer. à à à à à There are different consequences of owning or selling fake IDââ¬â¢s. Under-aged drinkers that go to bars and are caught with fake IDââ¬â¢s are usually ticketed for minor consumption and for carrying false or altered identification.

For the Human Resources Management to contribute to the profitability, quality, and other organizational goals of the bank, it should be 105 able to clo sely integrate careful planning and decisionmaking. To be able to do this, it must perform various activities such as recruitment, compensation or giving rewards, training or career development, performance appraisal, and health and safety developments. For control and implementation effective strategic planning is required for each sector of banking as it is mere or less service oriented business unit. It is included into the direct management task. In banking these strategic practice includes evaluating the bankââ¬â¢s (business) internal and external situation, properly define the business and developing a mission, translating the mission into the strategic goal as organizationââ¬â¢s goal and crafting a final strategy or course of action.Besides practicing HR in different units it is also a mammoth task for the banks to face the central and outer challenges. In different way the HR department sales, finance and manufacture the strategic over time to achieve its ultimate objec tives. Monitoring as well as changing the strategy also permits the business to cope up with the current demand. As the unit needs to improve the quality of its different service. Then the HR strategy might be to boost up employee quality consciousness through improved screening and necessary training. In formulating and implementing the HR strategy the business needs to follow the global trend and need to continually improve organizational performance. But HR department also should be careful enough to designing its strategic planning not just to execute. So when planning it the strategic manager must realize where they are now and where needs to go. Volume XII Issue II Version I F ebruary 2012 Sadia Afroj Ongoing Corporate Human Resource Management Practice in Banking sector of Bangladesh Global Journal of Management and Business Research country it just follows the instruction come from the higher authority. All the banks have their Corporate Head office in Dhaka and most of the st rategic decisions are taken from there. For the better understanding of corporate business, continue long term relationship, ensure the desirable growth and fulfill the organizational goal. Strategic HR follows the basic trends in different private banks in Bangladesh as just maintaining the instruction of central authority. In different banks most of the employees agreed with this point that they are satisfies in the nature and trend on practicing strategic HR in different banks. As it is mentioned that most of the decisions are taken in corporate level, but at the time of appointment, that means on the eve of joining in the bank they are introduced with the legislation and different terms & 106 conditions of the organization. As a result each and every employee gets a clear view about the ins and outs of their individual course of action. It also discloses the over all picture of the organization-its previous-currentfuture. As it provides an overall idea of presence of HR in the ba nks it covers almost all the areas. The current HR Strategic practice covers all over the areas like ?Recruitment and firing maintains the correct process or not. ? In case of selection how the employees are treated. ? How they are oriented in new working environment. ? The effectiveness of different benefit and incentive packages. ? Whether the bank properly follow the promotion strategy. ? How effectively the employees handle different complains of the clients. ? Maintenance of different laws, safety act etc. F ebruary 2012 Depending upon the above factors the employees of different banks differs. The banks at the time of appointing new employees normally check their HRIS.As most of the bank always main updated Human Resource Information system, it is so easy for them to find out the empty position, where new employees are required. So there a little bit chance that there is lack of employees in different banks. The vacant situation raises mainly when ? Any employees leave or fire d without notice. ? Increase absenteeism because of illness. ? New branches are opened But the above factors donââ¬â¢t have any long-term effect on the performance of a particular branch. Computer based information system and new recruitment immediately remove this short term problem. The corporate branch through effective job analysis mainly handles it. In different banks the employees thought that effective information system as well as prompt decision making deprived the problems which may arrive in employeeââ¬â¢s shortage situation. (US) Ongoing Corporate Human Resource Management Practice in Banking sector of Bangladesh à ¦ new branches and service variations in different banks are the two main key indicators of establishing the trend of personnel requirement. By using the computer based information systemHRIS helps estimate current and future employees requirement. This information system also figures the average employee demand the transferring from one branch to another the demand is fulfilled some times.Normally internal recruitment/selection follows the above strategies. Most of the cases this strategy is taken for the key positions of the bank. Whether any employee is newly recruited or transferred from one place to another, they n eed to adapt the working environment. Otherwise they may not give their best for the organization. For the adaptation in the new work responsibilities or working place, the employees may get help from the organizational policy. On the job training is a very effective mechanism for the proper orientation of new employees.Form the collected data on various employees, we found that they are introduced to their new job by maintaining the organizational policy. Most of the employees especially who just introduced in the job, get a fresh and effective orientation from their organization as well as from the branch. Those who enter into the job as Management Trainee or Probationary officer always get 1-3 years probationary period with training to adapt and learn much about their job responsibilities and organizational rule. Training is a hallmark of good management, and a task manager ignore at their peril.Having high potential employees does not guarantee they will succeed. Instead, they m ust know what the management want them to do and how to do that. If they donââ¬â¢t know, they will do the job in their own way, not according to the managementââ¬â¢s preference. Therefore, effective training is essential for the improvement of both the employee and the organization. Employee motivation is one of the most important aspects of organizational behavior. The productivity and the performance of the employees largely depend on motivation.Motivation is the force that makes one do things: this is a result of oneââ¬â¢s individual needs being satisfied (or met) so that s/he has inspiration to complete the task. These needs vary from person to person as everybody has their individual needs to motivate themselves. Depending on how motivated people are, it may further determine the effort they put into their work and therefore increase the standard of the output. There are various health and safety laws existing in Bangladesh. But these are mainly applicable for the indu stries where hazardous equipments are used. They feel that the HR department is playing a vital play in employee advocacy role. They also believe that the recruitment and selection policy is fair enough to choose the competent employees for the organization. To increase the moral of employees, the HR manager first knows the importance of particular work and importance of employeeââ¬â¢s hundred percentage contribution to the work.On the basis of the judgment HR manger first identify the task of the specific employeeââ¬â¢s task, according to the job pattern train up the employee, provide all the equipment to perform the task and try to develop ethics to the employee and lastly give motivation to perform the work 107 properly. Every employee gives a vast knowledge how they create value for the organization through their work and help to achieve the organizational goal. When the employees know that how much important to perform the work properly, automatically it help to increase the moral of employees.Equal Employment Opportunity means employer cannot discriminate on the basis of race color religion gender or national origin with respect to employment. There are EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) authorities who monitor the discrimination complain. They make the judgment through the law of the country. But in case of placing right people in the right place, the opinion varies among the employees. Some of them think that they are not placed in the exact position for what they are appropriate for. In some of the cases like employment rule, equal employment situation a considerable portion of the bankers are not sure about then policy practiced.HRIS is needed to improve the productivity and performance of the human resource department, but in all of the beaches HRIS is not practiced in detail. Maurice Ravel essays
Maurice Ravel essays Maurice Ravel was born in Ciboure, March 7, 1875. His father's background was Swiss and his mothers was Basque, but he was brought up in Paris. Here he studied at the Conservatoire from approximately 1889 to 1895, returning in 1897 to study further with Faure and Gedalge. Ravel never married, but he did have several long-running relationships. He was also known to frequent the bordellos of Paris. During his schooling in Paris, Ravel joined with a number of innovative young composers who referred to themselves as the "Apaches" because of their wild abandon. The group was well known for its drunken revelry. In 1893, he met Chabrier and Satie, both who were influential to his future career as a musician. Ravel was also highly influenced from music around the world including American Jazz, Asian music, and traditional folk songs from across Europe. Ravel was not religious and was probably an atheist. He disliked the openly religious themes of other composers, such as Wagner, and instead preferred to look to classical mythology for inspiration. A decade later he was a well-known composer, at least of songs and piano pieces, working with great care he could imitate a composer such as Lisztian bravura, or a style like Renaissance calm. During the next decade, when he was in his thirties, he was producing most of his works. There was a rivalry with Debussy and some arguments about priority in musical discoveries, but Ravel's taste in music was clearly different from any other composers work, as well as the grand virtuosity of much of his piano music from this period. Many of Ravels works were known to show his fascination with things temporally or geographically distant, or the imagination of childhood, as in Ma mre l'oye. "From childhood he had a particular liking for minute objects, miniatures, the tiny world of figurines, little things that worked by clockwork, mechanical birds 'whose hea ...

Sustainablility practice - Essay Example nd, that the recent growth in tourist related number is adversely impacting not only the local culture endemic to the land, but is also causing irreparable harm to the environment. As such, sustainable tourism activities, such as the one describe herein, are essential to the future of the country, in addition to the necessity of meeting the current needs of the people and land. The objective of this report is to highlight sustainable tourism operations in Thailand and to illustrate the critical need to further develop this endeavour in order to protect both the land and the environment of this Southeast Asian nation. This objective was primarily accomplished by researching currently literature related to sustainable tourism in Thailand, as well as conducting an in-depth analysis of the Thailand Tourism Authority of Thailandââ¬â¢s website. It was discovered that, while sustainable tourism is on the rise throughout the nation, there is still far too much reliance on international projects, which are creating harm to the land, the people, and the culture. In the future, more focus is needed in terms of developing tourist operations that are directly impacting the people of Thailand, while doing little to no harm to the environment in which they live. Throughout time, tourism has been in a constant state of change, and along with it has come a consistent need to look towards the future. For tourism to be sustainable, and for it to have a positive environmental effect for future generations, companies must look for ways to protect the lands in which they operate. The average tourist today has different expectations that have been evolving over the years. While the tourist industry has struggled at time to keep up with global demand, it has largely performed brilliantly across various sectors (Hamzah & Hampton, 2011). The flip side of this, however, has bough about grave environmental concerns that, left unaddressed, will completely alter the tourist landscape of
